AIKEN, SC – GEORGE ELBERT HIPP, 88, beloved husband of Minnie Kinard Hipp, died Thursday morning, June 22, 2017 at Pepper Hill Nursing Center. A native of Prosperity, SC, George Elbert was a son of the late Betsy Hunter and Raymond Walter Hipp, Sr. He lived in Aiken since 1953 and retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Site. He was a charter member of Trinity United Methodist Church. Survivors include his beloved wife of 63 years, Minnie; two daughters, Melody Bruder, North Augusta, Susan Whisnant, Columbia; a son, Mike Hipp, Prosperity, SC; seven grandchildren, Ryan Hipp (Rachel), Hanna Hipp, Jason Bruder (Lara), Jarrod Bruder (Joy), Zachary Whisnant (Heather), Chandler Whisnant (Mary), Haleigh Whisnant; ten great-grandchildren; two sisters, Mable Amick (Harold), Columbia, Shirley Bowers, Aiken; sister-in-law, Janice Hipp, Lexington. In addition to his parents, George Elbert was preceded in death by two brothers, Emory Hipp, Ray Hipp; son-in-law, Terry Whisnant. A memorial service will be held Saturday afternoon, June 24th at 3 o’clock at Trinity United Methodist Church with The Revs. Lee Phillips and Dr. Donnie Bates officiating. The family will receive friends at the church following the service.
