AIKEN, SC – GEORGE VICTOR WEISERT, SR., 85, husband of the late Dorothy Ann Weisert, died Thursday, April 26, 2018 at his residence.
A native of Cleveland, OH, George was a son of the late William Jacob and Ruby Pearl Reagan Weisert. He was a veteran of the Korean Conflict, serving in the U. S. Army’s 25th Infantry Division from 1950 – 1953. He lived in Aiken County since 1983 and was a retired Federal Investigator with the Department of Defense. He was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church and was a member of the New Ellenton VFW Post #5877.
Survivors include four children, George V. Weisert, Jr. (Ruby), Williston, SC, Karen Lee, Richmond Heights, OH, Louis A. Weisert (Debbie-Lyn), Williston, SC, and Richard A. Weisert, Aiken, SC; ten grandchildren; three sisters, Carol Jean Pollock, June Weisert Hall, Kingsport, TN, Vonda Christine Hall; a brother, Richard G. Weisert (Diane). In addition to his wife and parents he was preceded in death by his son, William J. Weisert, a son-in-law, Michael Lee.
The family will receive friends Tuesday, May 1st from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home, with a prayer vigil at 6:30.
A Requiem Mass will be celebrated Wednesday, May 2nd at 1 o’clock at the Old St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church on Park Avenue with Father Michel Mukad officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary cemetery with military honors.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital (www.stjude.org).
