AIKEN, SC - Mr. Gerald Hogsed, 92, of Aiken, SC, beloved husband for 22 years to Mignon Moore Hogsed, went to be with the Lord on Sept 4, 2021 in the comfort of his home.
He was born in Shooting Creek, NC, son of Mr. Pearl Hogsed and Lilly Anderson Hogsed and moved to Aiken in the early 1950’s (as he would often say) “when they were digging the first holes for SRP”.
Mr. Hogsed was a member of Mercy Church of God in Aiken. He was a U.S. Army veteran and retired from E.I. duPont at Savannah River Site as a traffic patrolman. He farmed throughout his life and enjoyed hunting and fishing. He participated in the SRP deer hunts as a dog handler. Later, when he learned how, he preferred to hunt turkeys.
He was preceded in death by his first wife Unata (Tootsie) Hogsed, mother of his 3 daughters; sisters Bernice Burch and Dair Turner; brothers David, Marvin (Lake) and Robert; and step-daughter Debbie Greer.
He is survived by his wife Mignon; daughters Sharon Hill (Terry), Jan Kabbani, and Lynn Beheler (Bruce); grandchildren; Teri Lynn Recht (Chad), Christopher Beheler (Holly), Jordan Kabbani, Lynsey Beheler, Cameron Hill, “adopted grandson” Steve Mills; step-grandchildren Jeffery (Brandy) & Brittany Greer; 3 great grandchildren and 2 “adopted” great grandchildren.
We would like to thank Professional Case Management for their wonderful care for the past several years and Regency Hospice for the past 15 months.
Visitation will be on Monday afternoon, Sept. 13th at 1 o’clock at Mercy Church with a Homegoing Celebration at 2 o’clock. Pastor Kenneth Murphy will officiate. Burial will be at Southlawn Cemetery with Military Honors.
Due to the current Covid presence, please wear masks and observe social distancing.
