Aiken, SC – Mrs. Gretchen Keim White, 85, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, December 4, 2021.
Mrs. White was born in Lansing, MI, daughter of the late Dr. Cameron Keim and Kathryn (March) Keim. Nicknamed “Boom” by her father, she was seldom called by her given name. Boom attended Michigan State University where she met and married Robert White. A devoted mother of 4, Gretchen was active in community service organizations in Wisconsin. When Robert’s work moved the family to the East Coast, their youngest daughter, Heidi, became interested in horseback riding. Boom enthusiastically supported Heidi’s equestrian career. Nothing brought her more joy than hanging out at the barn with her dog, Tucker, and all of the riders. Boom was “mom” to all she met. She had the gift of a beautifully generous heart. Boom’s cabinets were filled with special treats for herself and her friends. She will be missed by family, friends and community.
She was preceded in death by her beloved husband Robert D White, “The Chief” and their daughter Gretchen L White. She leaves behind sister, Kathryn & husband Jack Lorenz, brother Cameron & wife Margo Keim, son Cameron & wife Katy White, Kansas City, MO; son Shawn & wife Kathleen White, Marblehead, MA; daughter Heidi White & husband Martin Sandoval, Aiken, SC; grandson Kyle & wife Mallary White, Kansas City, MO; grandson Jason White, Kansas City, MO; great-granddaughters Elyse, Anna and Isla White as well as many nephews and nieces.
