Harlene Starnes

MARTINEZ, GA – HARLENE STARNES, 81, passed away Saturday, January 8, 2022 at her residence.

A native of Perry, SC, Harlene was a daughter of the late Harley V. and Maxine Sturkie Starnes.  She graduated from Pace University in New York City with an ADN degree and the University of South Carolina with a BSN.  Harlene was a RN and retired from University Hospital.  She loved animals.

Survivors include two sisters, Nancy S. Bolin, Aiken and Joyce S. Essick (John), Lexington, SC; nieces and nephews, Andy Bolin (Bridgett), Cory Essick (Darlene), Shannon Boone (Richard), Mandy Siefers, Megan Vogel (Phillip), Meredith Essick, Olivia Essick, MayBry June Miller; an adopted sister, Sylvia Bell and her loyal caregiver, Tanya Vega.  She was preceded in death by her parents and a brother, Art Starnes.

A memorial service will be held Thursday morning, January 20^th at 11 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with The Reverend Bill Howard III officiating.  The family will receive friends following the service.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the SPCA (letlovelive.org) or to a favorite charity.
