AIKEN, SC – HAZEL HALBROOK WHITTINGTON, 88, widow of Arthur L. Whittington, Sr., passed away Friday, October 7, 2022, at her residence surrounded by her loving family.
A native of Carbon Hill, AL, Hazel was a daughter of the late Ezra and Bertha Halbrook. She lived in Aiken since 1951 and retired from DuPont at the Savannah River Site after 38 years. She was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church and volunteered for 22 years at Christ Central of Aiken.
Survivors include her daughter, Susan Crosby (Jim), Aiken; her son, Arthur “Buddy” Whittington, Jr. (Jane), North Augusta; two grandchildren, Holly Eubanks (Leo), Aiken, Phillip Whittington (Laura), Seattle, WA; three great-grandchildren, Rachel, Audrey and Whit Eubanks; a sister-in-law, Karen Halbrook of Florida.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, John T. Halbrook.
The family will receive friends Friday afternoon, October 14th beginning at 1 o’clock in the Narthex of St. John’s United Methodist Church. The funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock with The Revs. W. Timothy McClendon and Grayson “Butch” Blackwell officiating. Private interment will be in Sunset Memory Gardens.
