Henry Lawrence McClain, Jr.

New Ellenton, SC – Mr. Henry Lawrence McClain, Jr., 78, passed away peacefully at home on Saturday, January 15, 2022, surrounded by family. Larry was born in Aiken, son of the late Henry Lawrence McClain, Sr. and Sabra Toole McClain. He was raised in New Ellenton and graduated from Aiken High School. He moved to Atlanta to work for Western Electric, which later became Lucent Technologies. He retired as a schedule analyst in 1997 after 35 years, 4 months, and 11 days, as he liked to say. He loved NASCAR and was a longtime member and former president of the Georgia Antique Engine Club. He enjoyed antique tractors and engines and loved sharing his pastime with friends and family, especially his grandchildren. He is survived by his wife, Janet Ford McClain; a son, Christopher Lawrence McClain, Gainesville, GA; a daughter, Kelly Lynne McClain Key, Ball Ground, GA; grandchildren, Kendall Key, Camden Key, and Davis McClain; a sister, Pamela Clarke, Dallas, TX.
