Ivan Gabriel Gottlieb

AIKEN, SC – Ivan Gabriel Gottlieb, 26, passed away on Monday, January 29, 2024.

Ivan was the beloved son of Terry and Lois Gottlieb of Aiken, SC. Born in Los Angeles, CA, he was adopted as an infant into the Gottlieb family. He attended Open Charter Elementary School, Ocean Charter Middle School, and graduated from New Roads High School in 2015. Ivan maintained very close friendships with many of his classmates throughout his life. He enjoyed playing youth football and watching the Lakers and the Chargers on television with his dad. Cutting his teeth in Venice Beach, he was an avid skateboarder with a killer kickflip. He loved playing video games, working out at the gym and roughhousing with his little dog Winnie. He studied and trained at American Medical College and worked throughout the pandemic as a medical assistant. He relocated to South Carolina in 2022 to be near his parents and close family friend Barbara Blair. He spent much of the last year bonding with his baby girl. Ivan struggled for many years with addiction and recovery. A bright light and a gentle soul, he developed strong ties and deep fellowship in the recovery community throughout his journey.

In addition to his parents, Ivan is survived by his infant daughter, Windynn Hendrick and her mother Summer of Augusta, GA; sister, Lisa Dorin and her husband Larry Smallwood and their son Xavier, of Williamstown, MA; brothers, Sean Sullivan and his husband Marc Merrill, of Savannah, GA and Carter Gottlieb of Inglewood, CA. He is also survived by his biological brothers, Alex and Robert Danible and sisters Lisette Shipp and Eileen Lopez.

A memorial service will be held on Saturday, February 17 at 1:00 PM pm at Shellhouse Funeral Home on Hayne Ave. The family will receive friends following the service. For those unable to attend in person, a Livestream of the service may be viewed by clicking on the link below.
