Jalie Dicks Cothran

AIKEN, SC – MRS. JALIE DICKS COTHRAN, 89, widow of Jack L. Cothran, died Sunday, April 29, 2018 at her residence.

A native of Aiken County, Jalie was a daughter of the late Luther Norman Dicks and Dora Hightower Dicks Gordon (Daniel Gordon). She lived a number of years in Winston Salem, NC where she was a line supervisor with Western Electric. Jalie was a devoted wife and mother to her special needs son Jackie Lewis Cothran, who died in 2016. She was a faithful member of Solid Rock Baptist Church.

Survivors include her sister, Ruth Scott (Arlie), Aiken; sister-in-law, Alene R. Dicks, Aiken; devoted friend, companion and caretaker, Tammy Bentley and a host of nephews and friends. In addition to her parents, husband and son, she was preceded in death by a sister, Edna Morrell and brother, Ben Dicks.

The family will receive friends Thursday afternoon, May 3^rd beginning at 1 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral will follow at 2 o’clock in the chapel with The Rev. Dwayne Adcock officiating. Interment will follow in Southlawn Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Ralph Morrell, Jr., Kenneth Hamby, Robert Hamby, Wallis Byars, Wesley Byars and Bennie Dicks.  Honorary Pallbearers will be her caregivers.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to Solid Rock Baptist Church, or a preferred charity.
