James I. Allen

AIKEN, SC – JAMES I ALLEN, 72, died Tuesday, July 10, 2018 at his residence.

Born in Los Angeles, CA, August 11, 1945 and growing up in Amarillo, TX, James was a son of the late James Olin and Inga Katrina Johnson Allen. He was a veteran of the United States Marine Corps, serving 6 years during Vietnam, achieving the rank of Staff Sergeant. Subsequently he worked for BNSF Railway as a locomotive engineer, retiring in 2005. He and Jane moved to Aiken in March of 2007.

Survivors include his wife of 51 years, Jane E. Allen; daughter, Kimber Allen, Lexington, SC; son, Brian Allen and wife Suzanne, Bennington, NE; four grandchildren, Katie Benefield, Lexington, SC, Jake Allen, Omaha, NE, Alex Allen Reuss and husband Andy, Washington, DC, Jinmei Allen, Bennington, NE; two great-grandchildren, Olivia and Jack Chavis, Lexington, SC; two sisters, Alinga Allen, Bonnie Allen; brother, Kenneth Allen.

A Celebration of James’ Life will be held Saturday, August 11th from 1 until 3 o'clock in the afternoon at Houndslake Country Club.
