James David Deal

AIKEN, SC – JAMES DAVID “DAVE” DEAL, 67, beloved husband of Darlene Jestice Deal, entered into eternal life, Saturday, July 25, 2020.

     Dave was born May 30, 1953 in Mulberry, AR.  He graduated from Princess Anne High School in Virginia Beach, VA.  In 1971 he enlisted in the United States Navy and was a Machinist’s Mate, Nuclear Power, Submarine Service until his discharge in 1979.  Dave earned a BS in Nuclear Technology from the University of Phoenix and a Masters in Christian Education from New Orleans Baptist Theological Seminary.  He worked in training in commercial nuclear power since 1982 and was currently a technical trainer in nuclear technology at Aiken Technical College.  Dave was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church where he was active in the men’s ministry, served as a Deacon and was a member of the choir.

     Surviving in addition to his wife, Darlene, are his mother, Ernestine Tackett Moore, Van Buren, AR; father and step-mother, James Roy and Patricia Deal, Van Buren, AR; four children, Jason Dopson (Theresa), Snellville, GA, Daniel Deal (Leighanne), Stanardsville, VA, Leigh Hill (Daniel), Grayson, GA, David L. Deal (Kathi), Snellville, GA; six grandchildren, Bryce Dopson, Hailey Dopson, Madison Waters, Dakota Cash-Deal, Kaylee Deal, Braden Deal; two great-grandchildren, Braxton and Brayden Waters; three sisters, Janis Fraser, Sharpsburg, GA, Lisa Filipkowski (Richard), St. Augustine, FL, Teresa Patrick (Mac), Van Buren, AR.  Dave was preceded in death by two sisters, Linda Sue Kelly, Lisa Deal and a brother, Gary Don Deal.

     The family will receive friends Thursday evening July 30^th from 6 until 7:30 PM at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.

     The funeral service will be Friday morning, July 31^st at 11 o’clock at Millbrook Baptist Church with The Rev. Bill Howard, III officiating.  Military Honors will be accorded by the United States Navy Honor Guard.  The service will be livestreamed on the Shellhouse – Rivers Facebook page at (https://www.facebook.com/srfhandsfh).

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions can be made to the Dave Deal Memorial Hawaii Bible Project.
