JAMES HONNELL ODLE "DOC", 75, beloved husband of Diane Yarbrough Odle, passed away unexpectedly Tuesday, June 25, 2024 in his home.
A native of Alcorn County, MS, James was a son of the late James Vanderford and Ruby Nichols Odle. Tuscumbia Baptist Church was his home church.
Doc has made Aiken his home for the past 40 years. He worked as a carpenter at the Savannah River Site and was a member of the local carpenters union.
Doc's favorite pastimes were shooting pool and singing. He loved performing with local musicians and was part of several bands throughout his lifetime. He passed his love of music on to his children and grandchildren.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 49 years, Diane, include three daughters, Vicky Gaskins (James), Cindy Rowell (James), Brandy Odle, all of Aiken; nine grandchildren, Jesup, Jami and Jace Gaskins, Jennifer Rowell, A.J. Johnson (Heather), Tré Moulton, Destiny and Brianna Odle, Marquis Lane; a great-granddaughter, Penelope Johnson; a brother, Jimmy Ray “J.R.” Odle, Medon, TN; a sister, Anna Fay “Winky” Foshee, Munford, TN and a number of nieces and nephews. In addition to his parents, James was preceded in death by a brother, Willie Bruce “Bill” Odle and a sister, Dorothy Mae Crabb.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, June 29th beginning at 4 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 6 o’clock in the funeral home’s chapel with The Rev.
