Jana Placr

AIKEN, SC - Mrs. Jana Placr, of Aiken, died on Friday, June 3, 2022 at her residence.

     She was born Jana Jachymova on May 16, 1947 in Cheb, Czechoslovakia, to the late Josef Jachym III and Josefa Jachymova (Jirkosvska). She married Arnost Placr on July 1, 1967, and, along with their son, Peter, immigrated to the United States in 1981, eventually settling in South Carolina in 1990.

     Jana loved her friends and family dearly, and seldom went a day without a phone call to loved ones at home or abroad. She also was an avid gardener and loved tending her plants and flowers.   

     In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her sister, Jitka Dufkova.

     She is survived by her husband Arnost; their son, Peter (Tammy), of Murray, Kentucky; brother, Josef Jachym IV, of Plzen; three grandchildren, Savannah Brown (Alex) of West Columbia; Simon and Caroline Placr of Murray, Kentucky, and two great-grandchildren, Delia and Molly Brown.

     The family will receive friends Monday evening, June 6^th from 5 until 7 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.
