Janett Hendrick Kendrick

New Ellenton – Janett Hendrick Kendrick, 86, of Ann Drive, New Ellenton, S. C. passed away September 28, 2018 after a long battle with ovarian cancer.  Janett was born on May 5, 1932 to Lona Costner Hendrick and Clemmie Franklin Hendrick in Cleveland County North Carolina near Shelby.  She was the eleventh child and grew up on the family farm between Shelby and Fallston. She graduated from Fallston High School and then worked for Hudson Hosiery Mills in Shelby for several years.  In 1953 she married Lawson Kendrick and moved to Aiken County SC.  Lawson and Janett made their home in New Ellenton, SC beginning in 1955 where they raised their family.  Janett worked for DuPont in the mid 1950’s and again beginning in 1968 before retiring from Westinghouse.  She was a long-time member of Foreman Memorial Baptist Church.  Janett enjoyed her family and especially her grandchildren.  She was blessed to be from a large family and extended family as well as having many wonderful neighbors, friends and coworkers over the years. In addition to her parents, Janett was preceded in death by her husband of 53 years, Lawson Kendrick, sisters Lollie Hendrick Ledford, Euray Hendrick Starnes, Evelyn Hendrick Devine, Charlene Hendrick Hamrick, Vera Hendrick Keener and brothers Boyd Hendrick, Woodrow Hendrick, John Hendrick, Mal Hendrick and Hal Hendrick.  Janett was also preceded in death by a daughter and a son who each died shortly after birth. Janett is survived by son Dale Kendrick his wife Suzanne (Dorrie) of Aiken SC and their children Sarah and Robin; daughter Jill Kendrick of Acworth Georgia and son Lawson; and son Scott Kendrick of Fort Mill SC and children William and Kathryn; brothers in law Edwin Kendrick, Lowery Kendrick (Betty Jean), Joe Kendrick (Nancy), all of Shelby, NC, and Joe Davis of Monroe, NC. Services will be held at 1PM on Saturday, October 6, 2018 at Foreman Memorial Baptist Church in New Ellenton with the Reverends William Eaves and Tim Hendrick officiating.  Visitation with the family will follow the service.
