     Jean Anderson “Anne” Cousins, 79, of Aiken, South Carolina, and formerly of Penn Yan, New York passed away with family by her side on October 21, 2023. Funeral Services will be held at the First Presbyterian Church in Aiken on Saturday November 11 at 10:00. Private inurnment will be in the church’s columbarium.

     Anne was born in Camden, South Carolina January 19th, 1944 to the late Joseph Edward Stone and Jean Anderson Stone. She attended the Long Island College of Nursing where she received her RN Degree. She married her high school sweetheart, Bruce Cousins in 1964. She always had a love for children and soon she and Bruce began a family of their own.

     Anne and Bruce moved their young family of three daughters to Penn Yan, NY to purchase Weldon Funeral Home. Anne played a pivotal role in supporting Bruce in his business. She began a second career as a school nurse in the Penn Yan Central School District. She was highly regarded by students and faculty alike. Her kindness, patience and professionalism were remarkable.

     Anne’s primary focus was always her family and specifically her daughters. Anne was a Girl Scout Troop Leader, Sunday School Teacher, chaperone and willing volunteer whenever and wherever needed. She provided unwavering support for her girls and was always present for academic, musical, and athletic events.

     She loved spending her summers on Keuka Lake. She shared her love of the water, boating and fishing with her girls. Anne was also a talented seamstress and enjoyed all types of crafts. She passed her love and enthusiasm for crafts to her children and grandchildren.

     Anne’s retirement was long and enjoyable. She and Bruce traveled extensively with friends and family. She became a grandmother and was the happiest spending time with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was overjoyed to be at the birth of all of her grandchildren and her love, support and helpful hints were very much appreciated by each of her daughters.

     Anne was predeceased by the love of her life, Randolph Bruce Cousins, her parents, and great-grandchildren Warren Anthony and Amelia Noel Passafume. She is survived by daughters Kim (Richard) Abney, Kari (Joseph) Passafume, and Karla (John) Holly; Grandchildren Joseph (Amanda) O’Conor, Jennifer (Ethan) Lamont, Anthony (Bailey) Passafume, Matthew (Sophia) Abney, Kacie Abney, Lila Holly, and John Holly; Great grandchildren Kensleigh, Rhett, Joseph, Ella and Chloe and a sister Mary Thomas and several nieces and nephews.

     The family would like to thank the staff at the Benton House of Aiken for their compassionate care and support of Anne.
