Jean Bracey Meadows, 93, of Aiken died peacefully on Monday, June 17, 2024 at Trinity on Laurens surrounded by her family.
A celebration of life will be held at 11:00am, Thursday, June 27th at Aiken’s First Baptist Church. The family will receive friends 1 hour before the service. Burial will be private.
Ms. Meadows was born on March 11, 1931 in Robertson County, Tennessee to the late John Cole and Avo Hackney Bracey.
Jean proudly retired from the Savannah River Plant after 15 years. She had an incredible 50 year career as a “Mary Kay lady.”
What a life she led! Jean had the best friends a girl could ask for, she traveled the world, she loved the Gamecocks and attended many Carolina football games with her dear friend Kitty. Well into her 80s, she played in 3 bridge clubs, played in a tennis league and peddled her bike around the neighborhood. She loved working in her yard and had a green thumb like no other. She was a proud member of the Truth Seekers Sunday School class and was the “tea lady” at Wednesday night dinners at church for many, many years. Jean loved her supper club friends, square dancing, playing cards, cooking, and, most of all, her family.
Jean is survived by the lights of her life, her granddaughters, Abby Raymond (Alex) and Gracie Meadows; her devoted daughter-in-law, Jessica Meadows (Scott McCutchen); her brother John Bracey (Suzy) and many loving nieces and nephews. Jean was predeceased by her husband, Maurice Meadows; son, John Meadows; sister, June McClanahan; dear cousin, Bettye Alley and many, many cherished friends. What an amazing reunion she must be experiencing in heaven!
The family would like to thank the staff at Trinity on Laurens for their love, devotion, and care. Thank you also to Gentiva Hospice for the kind, compassionate care shown to Jean during her final days.
In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations in her memory be made to Aiken’s First Baptist Church.
