AIKEN, SC – JEANNETTE HOWE SHOEMAKER, 61, beloved wife of Steven R. Shoemaker, died Tuesday, November 7, 2017 at her residence. A native of Rochester, NY, Jeannette was a daughter of Carmen G. Howe and the late Elvin James Howe. She spent most her life in upstate New York prior to moving to Aiken in 2011. She was past director of CareNet Pregnancy Center, Canandaigua, NY. Jeannette was an artist who specialized in pastel paintings. She was a member of the Aiken Artist Guild and has been a featured artist at the Aiken Center for the Arts. Jeannette successfully homeschooled her two children, who both continued on to complete their college educations. More than anything, her devout faith in Jesus guided her through all the days of her life. Survivors, in addition to her husband Steve, include her daughter, Melodie McGowan (Marcus), North Augusta; her son, Joshua Shoemaker (Melissa), State Road, NC; grandchildren, Madison Shoemaker, Arwyn Shoemaker, Gwenyth McGowan, Gianna McGowan, Gabriella McGowan; her mother, Carmen Howe, Rochester, NY; sister, Glenda Shoemaker (David), Aiken; brothers, Ozzie Howe, Rochester, NY, Tony Ortiz, Chicago, IL. The family will receive friends Thursday evening, November 9th from 6 until 8 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. The funeral service will be Friday morning, November 10th at 11 o’clock at the funeral home with The Rev. Dr. Phillip Dunn officiating. Interment will follow in Bethany Cemetery.
