AIKEN, SC – JERRY F. CAMPBELL, 76, beloved husband of 55 years of Marilyn Gardner Campbell, died Monday, March 5, 2018 at his residence.
A native of Jackson, MI, Jerry was a son of the late George and Mary Layher Campbell. He lived most his life in Michigan where he retired after 40 years as a deputy sheriff in Jackson and East Tawas. He had the honor to serve as security for Reba McIntire during one of her visits to Michigan. He served for many years as the head of the Sheriff’s Office Honor Guard. Jerry was a former member of Lions, Rotary and Kiwanis Clubs. An avid outdoorsman, he served as former president of the Michigan Outdoors Club. Jerry and Marilyn moved to Aiken 15 years ago. He was a former member of Millbrook Baptist Church where he provided security for the church and was active in Appalachian Missions and other local missions. He was a current member of Talatha Baptist Church.
Survivors, in addition to his loving wife, Marilyn, include his daughter, Sharon Ann Ebert (Raymond), Aiken; his son, Brian George Campbell, Clearwater, MI; three grandchildren, Justin Trayer (Carol), Gerald Trayer, Arianna Ebert; two great-grandchildren, Aaron and Nathaniel Trayer; his brother, Charles Campbell, Jackson, MI. In addition to his parents, Jerry was preceded in death by a grandson, Aaron Thomas Cooke.
A memorial service Celebrating the Life of Jerry will be Sunday, April 15th at 2 o’clock in the afternoon at Talatha Baptist Church with The Rev. Jordan Bird officiating.
