AIKEN, SC - Jimmy Graham Clark Jr., beloved husband of Melissa Lynn Clark passed away Friday, September 27, 2024 in his home after battling 7 years of cancer.
Born in Mobile, AL, he was the son of the late Jimmy Graham Clark Sr. and was survived by his mother Ola Kate Briggs. After graduating high school in Robertsdale, AL, he joined the U.S. Navy in 1980 serving time on multiple aircraft carriers. Following an honorable discharge he moved to Aiken, SC to begin his career at Savannah River Site.
He was a dedicated employee for 38 years for Wackenhut and DOE. He strived for excellence in each work project but was best known for humbly mentoring his coworkers and impressing them all with his great memory. These attributes led to him being nominated and awarded DOE-SR Business Employee of the Year in 2022.
He lived for adventures, whether that was driving fast cars on curvy mountain roads, hiking unknown trails, kayaking rivers, or overland camping. In addition to being an avid outdoorsman, he enjoyed photography, guitars, fancy knives, tractor therapy and Alabama football. More than anything he made it a priority to travel with his family.
He accepted Christ at a young age and was discipled by his grandfather. He served as a deacon, Sunday school teacher and director, and home group leader. His walk with Christ was evident as he cared for those in need, gave generously, was a prayer warrior and faithfully shared the plan of salvation with others until the very end.
Survivors, in addition to his wife of 39 years, Melissa, include his daughters Brandy (Hans) Ostrem, and Emily (Derrick)Murray. His grandchildren Alexis, Kristopher Graham, Rowan, and Erikson Ostrem and Camden Murray. Also surviving is his sister Margaret L. Morales, and his brother-in-law (of the home) Chris Brannon.
He will be missed greatly by his beloved dogs Charlie and Cooper.
