Joan E. Goodman

JOAN ELIZABETH GOODMAN, 93, beloved wife of Stanley F. Goodman, passed away Sunday, October 6, 2024 in Anchor Post Acute Care.

A native of Columbia, PA, Joan was a daughter of the late Jacob and Violet Moore Myers. She and Stan made Aiken their home in 1953 where they lived for 54 years before moving back to Pennsylvania where she made many new friends. They returned to Aiken in 2020 where she reconnected with many old friends. Joan was an Amateur Radio Operator and was known by the call sign K4GXI. She was formerly a member of the Aiken Women’s Heart Board, Aiken Hospital Auxiliary and Woodside Ladies Golf Association where she enjoyed playing golf with her friends. 

Joan blessed this world with kindness and touched everyone she encountered. It is her kindness that we will remember and emulate as best we can.

Survivors, in addition to her husband of 73 years, Stan, include her daughter, Bobbi Kooyman (Milt), Aiken; her son, Mark Goodman (Dawn), Simpsonville; four grandchildren, Christopher, Holly, Jillian, Mark Luke; six great-grandchildren and a sister, Martha Gerfin, Camp Hill, PA. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a grandson, Jacob.

A private memorial service to Celebrate Joan’s Life will be held Friday, 11th Oct at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home. A reception will follow at the funeral home.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to American Heart Association.
