John Edward Bailey

May 30, 1947 — October 25, 2021

AIKEN, SC – JOHN EDWARD BAILEY, 74, passed away Monday, October 25, 2021, and PATRICIA ROBINSON BAILEY, 73, passed away Wednesday, October 27, 2021, both in Aiken Regional Medical Centers due to complications from COVID.

John, a native of Patrick, SC, was a son of the late Carlos Greene Bailey and Dora Belle Crowley Bailey.  He grew up in Chesterfield County and graduated from The University of South Carolina.  He was a first lieutenant in the U. S. Army in Vietnam where he was awarded the Bronze Star.  He rose to the rank of captain before he was discharged.  John worked as a project at Optus Communications in Australia in the 90's in charge of changing the country to optic lines.  He retired from AT&T and then taught math at North Augusta High School.

John is survived by a sister, Mary Elizabeth Strickland (Bob), West Columbia; three brothers, Carlos G. Bailey, Jr. (Patricia), Camden, SC, Ernest N. Bailey, Patrick, SC and William D. Bailey of Virginia.

Pat, a native of Spruce Pine, NC, was a daughter of the late Carver and Gurtha Hughes Robinson.  She grew up in Mitchell County, NC, attended Kings College and graduated from The University of South Carolina with a bachelor’s in Business Administration.  She was a retired CPA.

Pat is survived by a sister, Trenna Williams (Boyd) and brother, Shirl Robinson (Marlene), all of Marion, NC.

A private graveside service for John and Pat will be held Monday afternoon, November 1st in Malvern Hill Baptist Church Cemetery, Camden, SC.
