John Edward Burke

Aiken – Mr. John Edward Burke, 83, passed away Sunday, July 7, 2024.

John was born in Buffalo, NY, son of the late john William and Mary Gallagher Burke. He attended the University of Buffalo, and went on to be a Regional Manager in the insurance services industry. A loyal and longtime friend of Bill W, Jack was a blessed faithful servant. He frequently joked “I have a deep and abiding faith that comes and goes. “His many friends will confirm how he valued what it means to be a good citizen and encouraged others to know the many wonderful benefits stem from this lifetime pursuit." 

He is survived by his beloved wife, Carla Joyce Jones Burke; daughters, Christina Marie Smith, Aiken, Jennifer Lynn (John) Fits Gibbon, Atlanta, GA; grandchildren, Kristin Joyce Brookshire, Shawn Brookshire, Gavin Fitz Gibbon, Erin Fitz Gibbon, and Megan Rene Burke; eight great grandchildren; and a sister, Rosemary Falsone, Buffalo, NY.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at 1:00 PM, Sunday, July 14, 2024, at Shellhouse Funeral Home with the Reverend Ken McDonald officiating. A reception will follow from 3:00-5:00 PM at Woodside Country Club.
