AIKEN, SC - Mr. John Mac Cox, 78, beloved husband of Diane Cox, passed away Friday, February 21, 2025.
Born in Anderson, SC, John’s family moved to Aiken when he was in first grade. After graduating from Aiken High School, he moved to Atlanta where he met Diane, the love of his life, to whom he was married for fifty-five years. After he and Diane married, they moved back to Aiken where they have resided ever since. John went to work for Pitney Bowes, Inc. as a service representative and worked for the company until retirement.
John and Diane are longtime members of South Aiken Baptist Church. For many years John enjoyed organizing and participating in the church’s softball team. John was a big sports fan and particularly loved the Atlanta Braves. He also was a movie lover and avid reader in later years. He and Diane enjoyed frequent trips to the South Carolina coast. In retirement, John became an avid golfer and pickleball player. Through these hobbies he reconnected with many old friends and made lots of new, lasting friendships. John loved to laugh and was well known among his many friends for cutting up and being quick with a joke. He took great pride in his son’s family and spent many weekends watching his grandchildren grow up and participate in various sports.
He is survived by his wife Diane; Son Ron (Vickie) and grandsons Matthew and Jason, Columbia; sister Gloria Kirkland, Mauldin; brother Carl Cox, North Augusta, and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents Carlton Cox and Lenna Mae (McGuire) Cox.
