John James Garvin

AIKEN, SC – JOHN JAMES GARVIN, JR., 67, passed away Wednesday, August 24, 2022, at his residence.

A native of Detroit, MI, John was a son of the late Fred and Robbye Riddle Cowen.  He was a veteran of the U.S. Army and lived most of his life in the Detroit area until moving to Aiken four years ago.  He retired from the pest control industry.  John was a loving family man that loved nothing more than to be a Papa John to his grandchildren. He loved to fish and tend to all his beautiful plants.

Survivors include three children, Sean Garvin (Tami), Waterford, MI, Seth Garvin (Erin), Walled Lake, MI, Serena Garvin (John), Aiken; seven grandchildren, Averi Hill, Parker Garvin, Chace Garvin, Gabrielle Garvin, Layla Fox, Abriana Fox, Ezra Fox; two great-grandchildren, Maiyah and Malani Stovall; three siblings, Susan Menfee (Bill), Utica, MI, Darin Cowen (Tilly), Milford, MI, Lisa Clark (Stephen), Stuart, FL.  In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a brother, Jerry Garvin.

A Celebration of John’s Life will be held at a later date in Belle Isle, MI.
