JOHN BURT KOEHLER, 85, beloved husband of Martha Dudley Koehler, passed away Tuesday, July 4, 2023 in Aiken Regional Medical Centers.
A native of Huntington, WV, John was a son of the late Paul Louis and Margaret Burt Koehler. He was a graduate of Marshall University and was a member of the Kappa Alpha Order. John worked in rail management, retiring from the State of Michigan. He lived in Aiken since 2001 and was a member of First Presbyterian Church. John volunteered for many years delivering meals for Meals on Wheels both in Plymouth, MI and Aiken, SC. He was a collector of antiques and had a vast knowledge of geography.
Surviving, in addition to his wife of 65 years, Martha, include two sons, John Mitchell Koehler (Gwenn), Somerset, WI, James Paul Koehler (Tamara), Holt, MI; grandchildren, Eric Mitchell Koehler (Ally), Evan Thomas Koehler, Brittany Lewandowski (Scott); great-grandchildren, Max Mitchell Koehler, Audrey Leigh Lewandowski; brother-in-law, Peyton “Pete” Dudley, Tampa, FL and his Labradoodle, Archie.
A memorial service will be held Friday morning, July 21st at 11 o’clock in First Presbyterian Church with The Rev. Dr. Christopher Erde officiating. A reception will follow in the fellowship hall.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to First Presbyterian Church, 224 Barnwell Ave., NW, Aiken, SC 29801, Aiken SPCA Albrecht Center (www.letlovelive.org) or to Golden Harvest Food Bank (www.goldenharvest.org).
