John F. Mills, 85, of Aiken, South Carolina, passed away peacefully on January 21, 2025. Born on March 3, 1939, in Brooklyn, New York, John devoted his life to his family and friends.

 He was married to his late wife, Mary Mills, until her passing in December of 2003. Their enduring partnership was a testament to deep love, mutual respect, and a joy for life, which they shared with many lifelong friends.

 John was the beloved father of Jon Mills (Helen) and the proud grandfather of Nick Mills (Elizabeth) and Mike Mills (Alison), who blessed him with a great-granddaughter, Logan. He took immense pride in watching his grandsons grow into accomplished and devoted men, cherishing every moment he spent with them and their families. John also deeply valued his close relationships with his brothers, Robert (Xiaohong) and Gary (Edna), and he treasured the memories of his late sister, Jackie. He shared many special moments with Gary and Edna and their family, Keith (Casey) and Jaclyn (Jeremy), along with her children, Addison and Mason.

 John proudly served his country in the Vietnam War, where he held the rank of Captain. As a paratrooper with the 82nd Airborne Division, his bravery and dedication earned him a Bronze Star and a Purple Heart. His military service exemplified his lifelong values of courage, commitment, and honor.

 A service to honor John’s life and military service will be held at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined.

 John will be remembered for his strength, loyalty, and unwavering love for his family. His legacy will live on in the hearts of all who knew him.
