Joseph William “Billy” Bell, 74, beloved husband of Patricia Burkhart Bell, passed away Friday, October 12, 2018.
William “Billy” was born April 21, 1944 in Dublin, GA to the late William Thomas Bell and Mary Ellen Lord Bell Brown.
Billy was survived by his children, Becky Bell Moore, William Thomas Bell II, Stephanie Drawdy, and Thomas James Burkhart and a brother David Fred Bell. Also surviving are 4 grandchildren, 3 great-grandchildren and 24 nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death are his brothers, John Allen Bell and James Thomas Bell.
Billy was the owner/operator of Bell Roofing. He enjoyed serving others through volunteering for Habitat for Humanity and coaching Dixie League Baseball. Billy loved his family unconditionally.
He enjoyed fishing at Lake Murray and spending time with his family, friends and neighbors. Billy was a loving husband, father, grandfather, uncle, brother and friend. He was kind and generous and leaves a legacy that others strive to attain.
A memorial service will be held 1:00 PM Wednesday, October 17, 2018 at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home with The Rev. Ronnie Tyler officiating. The family will receive friends following the service.
In lieu of flowers, to honor his love for others and to help those who struggle with drug and/or alcohol addiction the family requests donations to one of the following: Faith Home (Greenwood, SC), Penfield Addiction Ministries and Christian Home (Union Point, GA), U Turn for Christ South Carolina (Lexington, SC) or the Hale Foundation (Augusta, GA).
