Joseph E. Hamilton

JOSEPH E. HAMILTON, 78, husband of the late Carol Heath Hamilton, passed away Sunday afternoon, March 10, 2024 in his home. 

A native and lifelong resident of Aiken, Joseph was the son of the late Theodore Hamilton, Sr. and Mary Ouzts Hamilton. Joseph was a member of Talatha Baptist Church, where he served as a Deacon. After 21.5 years, he retired from WSRC. He also worked at Harvey Hubbell, Inc. for over 20 years. Joseph’s favorite pastimes were traveling with his close friends Patty and Lloyd and spending time on the water in Beaufort. He loved his ministry of spreading the gospel of Jesus Christ, by making sure he gave out crosses and angels. Joseph loved the Lord and his wife Carol dearly, and now we know that he has been reunited with both in Heaven. He was very compassionate about his church and church family, often stating his regards with kind words concerning them. We pray for our loss and yet celebrate Heaven’s gain.

He is survived by his brother Ronald E. Hamilton (Susan), brother-in-law Freddie Heath, and many nieces and nephews.  In addition to his beloved wife Carol, he was preceded in death by two brothers, Billy and Ted Hamilton as well as two sisters-in-law, Martha Jean Hatcher and May Heath and brother-in-law Gerald Hatcher.

The family will receive friends Thursday morning, March 14 beginning at 10 o’clock at Talatha Baptist Church.  The funeral service will follow at 11 o’clock with The Rev. Jordan Bird officiating.  Interment will be in the church cemetery.

The family would like to recognize the compassionate care Joseph received from Peggy Williams, Lillian Davis, Monique Hickson and Sherry Payne as well as Amedisys Hospice Care.
