Joseph Francis Stackley, the son of US Army Lt. Colonel, Joseph Anthony Stackley and Arlene Pelow Stackley, ‘Joe’ lived to be 78.
His siblings include Paula McKinstry (d); Eleanor Stackley Fry; the late Louis Terrence Stackley, Mary Eileen Stackley; Lucille Stackley Parker; Paula Maureen Stackley Imwold; Sean Gerard Stackley; and Loretta Stackley Walsh. Joe has 9 nieces and nephews, along with six grand nephews and two grand nieces.
Remarkably, Joe lived with cerebral palsy and survived his father by 40 years and his mother by 14 years. Joe thrived later in life with studying scripture, loving his family and his congregation, and most importantly, understanding his relationship with his Creator. He had many favorite scripture readings that enabled him to live a life of purpose.
Joe was highly sociable and loving. He enjoyed watching TV shows that gave him ‘belly-aching’ laughs. He had a great memory which served him well for TV personalities and trivia. He was astute, kind, generous, and always thankful. Morning time, he enjoyed his coffee and a great breakfast. Day time, you’d find him at his computer researching the weather, worldwide news and daily local news.
He was compassionate and always loved the little ones. The little ones and pets were drawn to him. Having a medical condition, he was the foundation that would invite children to reach out to him. Some photo memories were with Joe and his grand nieces and grand nephews.
Joe was a devoted fan of his hometown heroes – the Baltimore Orioles and Baltimore Ravens. Joe spent many seasons enjoying the World Series and Super Bowl as far back as the Baltimore Colts. He knew all the greats from the teams and related to them because they gave him so much pleasure.
As a youngster, Joe was an avid weather man. He was able to follow the weather back in the 1950s by calling a three-digit code on the older phone. His reputation preceded him as he called Alaska and other states for the weather. Again, before the internet, Joe loved the basics and was the expert!
Joe’s story is special, and his exuberance for life was even greater. Joe will be missed by all, and his family is so thankful for his life.
