Juanita “Nita” Sharpe Byrd, born on September 9, 1931, in Burke Co. North Carolina, passed away on January 11, 2025 in Aiken SC. She was the daughter of the late Dwight and Esther Sharpe.
Nita was married to Richard “Dick” Byrd until his passing in 2006. Together they built a life filled with love, family, and travel. She was predeceased by her daughter Connie Childers in 2007 and son-in-law, Kevin Childers in 2004.
She is survived by her daughter and son-in-law, Susan and Eddie Huff of Aiken, SC; her son, Richard Byrd; her grandson and his wife, Nathan and Susan Huff of Augusta GA; and her great-granddaughter, Mary Susan Huff of Augusta. Nita is also survived by her sisters Loretta Aldridge (Charles) of Pinehurst, NC; and Cecelia Stilwell of Lenoir, NC. Also surviving is Nita’s loyal canine companion, Max.
