Karon L. Short

KARON LEE SHORT, 80, passed away unexpectedly Sunday, October 13, 2024 in her home. She was the cherished wife of COL Sinclair G. Short, DMD, USA Retired, with whom she shared 52 wonderful years of marriage.

A native of Grand Forks, ND, Karon was a daughter of the late Leo and Ruth Swensen Fettig. As a young woman, she worked as a flight attendant with Northwest Orient Airlines. It was there, somewhere above the Pacific Ocean, where she met a young Army Captain on his way to Hawaii during the Korean War. She and Sinclair dated long distance for 2 years before they were married. Karon embraced a life of travel, living in various parts of the world before eventually settling in Florida. After she married, Karon became a cosmetologist and was a sales representative of Merle Norman Cosmetics. As the wife of an Army officer, She had made Aiken her home for the last 14 years. She was a communicant of St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church.

In addition to her husband, Sinclair, she is survived by her sister, Dianne Litzinger (David) in Phoenix, AZ.

A Funeral Liturgy will be held Saturday morning, October 19th at 11 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home with Dcn. Alejandro Leguizamon officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the American Cancer Society (cancer.org).
