Katharine Hering Gugumuck

Aiken – Mrs. Katharine Hering Gugumuck, 69, passed away Saturday, January 28, 2023. Kathy was born January 8, 1954, in Poughkeepsie, NY, daughter of the late Ronald and Patricia Murrill Hering. She graduated Poughkeepsie High School in 1973, and lived in Swanton, VT prior to moving to Aiken in 2016. Kathy enjoyed working with special needs children as a paraeducator, and with pre-kindergarten children. She also enjoyed cooking, reading, puzzles, and spending time with family. Kathy is survived by her beloved husband of almost 50 years, Fredrick W. Gugumuck, Jr.; daughters, Laura K. (Matthew) Dougherty, Aiken, Karen H. Gugumuck, Aiken; sons, Christopher P. (Arlene) Gugumuck, New Ellenton, David F. Gugumuck, Aiken; brothers, Ronald L. Hering, Aiken; brothers in law, Henry J. (Sharon) Gugumuck, Farmville, VA, Richard C. (Mary) Gugumuck, Poughkeepsie, NY; and many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by a brother, John F. Hering. A Funeral Mass will be held at 10:00 AM, Thursday, February 9, 2023, at Old St. Mary Help of Christians Catholic Church, Park Ave., with the Very Reverend Gregory Wilson officiating. Interment will follow in Calvary Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to Life Choices Pregnancy Care Center, 130 E. Pine Log Rd., Aiken, SC 29803.
