Kristine (Marquier) Varzal died after a long illness on January 5, 2025, that she fought courageously. Kris was born in Orange, NJ but lived most of her childhood in Livingston, NJ. Her family owned Marquier’s Pharmacy, which was located in Orange, NJ – a well-known establishment founded by her grandfather. After graduating high school, Kris attended a program to become an EEG and EKG nurse and worked at St Claires Hospital in Denville, NJ for many years.

Kristine married Robert Varzal and they lived in Long Valley, NJ where they were very active in their local church. Kris and Bob regularly vacationed on Long Beach Island, NJ – a place that they loved and often met friends and family down there. After retirement, Kristine and her husband moved to Aiken, South Carolina where she met and became part of a welcoming group of friends.

Kristine’s family owned horses and Kris loved riding and caring for them in her youth. From her childhood, Kris was friendly and outgoing and kind to everyone. She had a beautiful smile and an infectious laugh which will be greatly missed.

She is survived by her sister, Cynthia Potter; Brother-in-law James Varzal and his wife Diane; Sister-in-Law Joan Greco; nieces Megan Marquier Schacht and her partner, David Wallis; Heather Greco and her husband Greg; Jennifer Mead and her husband Dave; and, nephews David Marquier and his wife Tiffany; Brian Melkowits and his wife Alexandra; Matthew Marquier; and Howard Marquier.

Kristine was predeceased by her husband, Robert; her parents Frank and Gertrude (Jeffries) Marquier; and brothers Frank, Geoffrey, and Richard Marquier.

Funeral services will be private.
