Leland Franklin Simpson III

AIKEN, SC - Mr. Leland Franklin Simpson, III, 85, passed away Friday, December 22,2017. Frank was born in Greenville, SC to the late Leland Franklin and Fannie Laura Hallman Simpson, Jr. Frank was a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, New Ellenton where he was a active member for several years. He was a faithful supporter of St. Jude’s Children’s Hospital and his church. He loved to fly and was a long time member of the Anderson Civil Air Patrol. He enjoyed amateur radio and was known as a gentle man who could fix most anything.He is survived by his daughter - Susie (Robert) Thompson, Aiken, Stepdaughter Missy (Barry) Norvell, Aiken, two Stepsons, Mark (Patty) Stamey, Aiken and John (Cinda) Stamey, Roswell, Ga., Grandchildren Robert Thompson, Jr., Andrew Thompson, Matthew Stamey, Elizabeth Stamey and Abigail (Mike) Sullivan.He was predecessors in death by his first wife of 51 years Doris Anne Trammell Simpson, son Leland Simpson, IV, his sister Joy Garlington and his second loving wife of 14 years Marie Parsons Simpson.In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to St. Paul United Methodist Church Family Life Center, 600 Main Street, New Ellenton, SC 29809, the Savannah River Cancer Foundation, P.O. Box 3694, Aiken, SC. 29802 or the charity of ones choice.A memorial service will be held at the graveside at St. Paul United Methodist Church on Wednesday, December 27, 2017, at 11:00am. The Rev. Robert Reeves will officiate. The family will visit with friends following the service.
