AIKEN – Mr. Lendon Earl Weisner, Jr., 88, passed away Thursday, June 28, 2018 at Augusta University Medical Center. Born in Wilmington, DE, Mr. Weisner was a son of the late Anna Venita Toy Weisner and Lendon Earl Weisner, Sr. He attended The Clemson Agricultural College of SC graduating with a Bachelor’s Degree in Electrical Engineering in 1950, at the age of 19. He was commissioned as a 2nd Lieutenant in the US Air Force. Mr. Weisner was a Life Member of the Schroder Lodge #144, AFM in Gray Court, SC; a Life Member of Valley of Aiken, Orient of SC, Ancient and Accepted Scottish Rite of Freemasonry, 32 degree; Life Member of Queen City Chapter #141 in Aiken where he served as Worthy Patron for many years and Golden Glow Chapter #76 in North Augusta, Order of Eastern Star; The Imperial Council of the Ancient Arabic Order of the Nobles of the Mystic Shrine for North America in Omar Temple of Charleston, SC; served as an adult worker with The International Order of the Rainbow for Girls as Chairman of the Advisory Board of Queen City Assembly #38 and Rainbow Dad and member of the Grand Cross of Color. He retired from DuPont in 1984 as Superintendent of Reactor Works Engineering at the Savannah River Site. Mr. Weisner continued at Savannah River Site with Westinghouse Savannah River Company working in Reactor Works Engineering Maintenance as Department Superintendent of Maintenance in Reactors from April 1989 to August 1996. At his retirement, he was the longest working employee of Savannah River Site. Mr. Weisner was a member of St. John’s United Methodist Church after joining the church in April of 1953. He had been Head Usher for 56 years and was on the Church Council. Mr. Weisner was an avid fisherman, hunter, gardener and enjoyed playing bridge. He is survived by his daughter, Susan (Michael) Broom, Columbia, SC; granddaughter, Amy Broom (Cory) Hansford; great-grandchild, Ryan Hansford; sisters, Norma Jean Mabry, Aiken, Patricia Anne (Tom) Reynolds, Aiken; brother, Jayhue Franklin (Patricia) Weisner, Sr., Laurens, SC; sister-in-laws, Doris Weisner, Gray Court, SC, Dorothy Hawkins Wise, Newberry, SC and numerous nieces and nephews. Mr. Weisner was preceded in death by his beloved wife, Reba Hawkins Weisner; a son, Lendon Earl Weisner III and a brother, Robert Ellis Weisner. Funeral service will be held 2:00 PM Sunday, July 1, 2018 at St. John’s United Methodist Church in Aiken with the Reverend Dr. Tim McClendon officiating. The family will receive friends following the service in Ward Hall. The family will also greet friends in the church vestibule from 1:15 - 1:45 PM. Burial will follow at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church Cemetery, 4056 St. Luke's Church Rd., Prosperity, SC 29127 at 6:00 PM. Pallbearers will be the Ushers of St. John’s United Methodist Church.
