Avera, GA – Mr. Thomas Jackson Almond, transitioned peacefully on Friday, April 8, 2022. He was surrounded by his loving family in his country home in Avera, GA.
Jack, as he was known, was born in Elberton, GA on September 2, 1941 to Thomas Dallas and Eloise Smith Almond. He opened Quality Metal Products, his lifelong dream, in 1978 which is still flourishing to this day.
Jack married Joan on October 18, 1985 and they have shared a wonderful life together.
Those left to cherish his memory include his loving wife of 37 years, Joan H. Almond; daughter, Julie M. Almond of Lexington, GA; three beautiful granddaughters, Mariah A. Holley (Cody) of Edgefield, SC, Bailey E. Mattox of Nashville, TN, and Allie C. Hendrix of North Augusta, SC; one great grandchild, Jackson W. Holley, who was the light of his life; younger sister, Brenda A. Haney of Lawrenceville, GA; brothers, J. Douglas Almond of Lavonia, GA, and Danny (Carol) Almond of Aiken, SC; youngest sister, Tammy A. Almond of Lawrenceville, Ga.
He was preceded in death by his brother Kenneth Almond (Lisa) of Elberton, GA.
He was the best Uncle Jack to many nieces and nephews who loved to visit the country through the years.
Jack had many hobbies which included hunting and fishing. He was a sponsor of the famous QMP dirt track race cars, a sport that he dearly loved.
A visitation will be held from 1:00-2:00 PM, and the funeral service will follow at 2:00 PM on Monday, April 11, 2022 at SHELLHOUSE-RIVERS FUNERAL HOME, INC.,
715 E. PINE LOG RD., AIKEN, SC. Entombment will follow in the Southlawn Cemetery Mausoleum.
Honorary pallbearers will be K.C. Richardson, M.L. Hadden, Randy Brittain, Jim Bodiford, Brady Hadden, Tony Brittain, and Daryl Key.
