Lonnie B. Griffin

AIKEN, SC – Mr. Lonnie B. Griffin, 81, passed away Sunday, July 24, 2022 at Select Specialty Hospital.

 

Lonnie was born in Saluda, SC. He grew up in Aiken where he married Alice, had three children and later divorced. He remarried Sherrie and they had a son and two daughters. Lonnie spent his remaining adult years as a resident of Couchton, SC.

 

Lonnie was a transfer truck driver in his younger years and later worked for SCDOT where he retired in 2003. Lonnie loved fishing, hunting and growing his vegetable garden; he truly loved the outdoors where he was most happy.

 

Lonnie is survived by his wife Sherrie and their three children, Robbie Griffin (Brenda), grandson, Chandler, Angie Valeck, granddaughters, Courtney, Electria, Keata, grandsons, Brandon and Dante, Jennifer Hollows, grandsons, Joshua and Jeremy; also daughters, Elizabeth Barrett (Andrew), grandson, Justin, Marilyn Hancock (Calvin), granddaughter, Christina, Melissa Griffin, grandson, Matthew; brother, Jimmie Griffin (Cindy) and a special nephew, Wayne Wyatt (Kayla); five great-grandchildren and several nieces and nephews.

 

Lonnie was proceeded in death by his mother Lillie, father Lonnie E., brother George, sister Judy Vie Della, first wife Alice and granddaughter Cassie.

 

Lonnie will be missed by family and friends but is now resting with the Lord and catching “The Big One” wherever he’s casting his fishing line. 

 

A memorial service will be held 10:00 AM Saturday, July 30, 2022 at Shellhouse Funeral Home. The family will receive friends following the service.
