AIKEN, SC – LOUISE REISER SANDERS, 89, went to her heavenly home on Monday, January 17, 2022, where she was reunited with her loving husband of 51 years, Robert L. “Bob” Sanders. She was affectionately known as “Weezie” by her friends and “Nanaw” to many others who loved her.
A native of El Paso, TX, Louise was the daughter of the late Samuel and Ruby Reiser. She graduated from University of the Incarnate Word in San Antonio with a degree in Nursing. In 1953 she married Bob, her lifetime love, and they moved to Aiken in 1959. She began her career in Aiken as a Registered Nurse and devoted her life to caring for others. She worked at the Old Aiken County Hospital and worked for many years at the Edgefield County Hospital. She also worked for several nursing homes in Blackville, Edgefield and served as the Assistant Director of Nursing at Aiken County Nursing Home. Remarkably, at 89 years old, she was still actively working with Comfort Home Health.
Louise was a longtime member of Millbrook Baptist Church. She and Bob were avid square dancers with The Carolina Square and Round Dance Club and made lifelong memories and friends together. She loved to travel and never passed up an opportunity to take a trip. She especially loved visiting and spending time with her family. Her most recent trip was in October 2021, where she spent 3 full days in the Disney World theme parks, riding rides and making unforgettable memories with family. She even rode front row on a roller coaster, an “accomplishment” that her great grandchildren will never forget. She had a zest for life and nothing could slow her down.
Survivors include her four children, Leon Vance Sanders, Aiken, Cheryl Owens, Bulverde, TX, David Sanders (Erin), Longwood, FL, Nancy Richardson (Greg), Aiken; eight grandchildren, Robert Stacey (Whitney), Patrick Stacey (Meighan), Lorelei O. (Petr), Russell Owens, Jennifer Owens (Michael), Dugan Sanders, Mackenzie Sanders, Reiser Sanders; three great-grandchildren, Sam and Sarah Stacey, LilyAnne Stacey; loving brother, Martin Reiser (Geneva), Perry, FL; and special in-laws Myrna, Dick and Fran Sanders. She was preceded in death by several brother and sister in-laws and a great granddaughter, Martha Louise Stacey.
She will always be remembered for her unwavering faith in God, her spunk and love for life and her unconditional love for her family.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, January 23rd beginning at 2 o’clock at Millbrook Baptist Church. The funeral service will follow at 3 o’clock with The Revs. Dr. Chris Masters and Bill Howard III officiating. Interment will be in Southlawn Cemetery, immediately following.
