Aiken – Mrs. Lucille “Ceil” Davis Pendleton, 99, widow of Malcom David Pendleton, Jr., passed away Friday, March 31, 2023. Born in Columbia, SC, she was a daughter of the late Violet Lorick and Gardner Lander Davis. She was retired from Bell South (AT&T) in Columbia, SC Ceil was a longtime member of St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church where she served on the Altar Guild and Cemetery Committee. She was a member of the Daughters of the American Revolution and Daughters of the Confederacy. Ceil was affectionately known as Mama Ceil to friends and family. Surviving are a son, William S. Crane, III of Aiken, and a daughter, Marianne Wilson (Ken) of Garner, NC; granddaughters Renee McConnell (Ed), Amy Hinnant (David), Sandra Wilson, and Debra Davis; great grandchildren Rachel, Chase, and Cole; and great great grandson, Jaxon. We would like to thank all of the caregivers from Visiting Angels, especially Brenda, Latonya, Meryl, Queen, and Tia for their help. She was twice married, first to the late William S. Crane, Jr. She was also predeceased by a sister, Dorothy Greene, and a brother, Thomas Jefferson Davis. The family will receive friends beginning at 3:30 PM Tuesday, April 4, 2023, and the funeral service will follow at 4:00 PM in the St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church Chapel with the Reverend Joseph Whitehurst officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Thaddeus Episcopal Church, 125 Pendleton St. SW, Aiken, SC 29801, or the charity of one’s choice.
