Margie Gordon Wright

Greenwood, SC – Ms. Margie Gordon Wright, 84, passed away Monday, May 24, 2021. Ms. Wright was born in Aiken, SC, a daughter of the late Arlie L. Gordon and Eula K. Gordon. She was a lifelong member of Talatha Baptist Church. She retired from Aiken Technical College, where she faithfully served students in the Records Department. She won many awards for her diligent and distinguished work. Margie was an avid reader and Scrabble player. Her children and grandchildren had a lifelong pursuit to best her in Scrabble. This never happened. Ms. Wright believed in the power of God’s Word, and she daily studied it. Her Bible remained next to her favorite chair at all times. Margie was a prayer warrior, and this deep love for God led her through many difficult circumstances throughout her life. Ms. Wright’s proudest accomplishments were her children, which she raised by herself at a time where single parent households were not a common occurrence. She is survived by her sister, Brenda Young of Aiken. She is also survived by her two children Tammy Wade (Rev. Phillip Wade) of Greenwood and Rev. Bill Wright (Stephanie Wright) of Lexington. She had four grandchildren and two great-grandsons. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Richard L. Gordon. The family will receive friends from 1:00-3:00 PM, and the funeral service will follow at 3:00 PM, Friday, June 4, 2021 at Talatha Baptist Church with the Rev. Jordan Byrd and the Rev. David Little officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.
