Alma Marie Ivey Trotter, 83, of Aiken passed away on Feb 27, 2023 after an illness. She was surrounded by her loving family at the time she passed.
Marie was born June 4, 1939 to Abbott and Frances Ivey in Warrenton Georgia. She graduated from Johnston High school in 1957 where she met the love of her life, Gene Trotter, and they wed in March of 1958, going on to have four children, Doug, Dean, Dennis and Dawn. Gene and Marie made their home in Aiken, South Carolina in 1975. She was a devoted wife, mother, and grandmother.
Marie had a long career with South Carolina Electric and Gas Company retiring from the company after thirty three years as the customer service manager in Aiken, South Carolina. She was a member of Millbrook Baptist Church. Marie was the happiest spending time with her family. The best times were spent camping at the lake, and the beach, boating and hosting cookouts for friends and family. One of her greatest joys was dancing and listening to beach music. She was most known for her beautiful smile, warm hugs, quick whit, and her wonderful, distinctive laugh. To know her was to love her.
Marie is preceded in death by her parents Abbott and Frances Ivey, her four brothers Abbot Ivey Jr, Jerry Ivey, Robert (Bobby) Ivey, Anthony (Tony) Ivey, and her sister Patricia (Pat) Ivey Godfrey.
She is survived by her loving husband of sixty five years, Gene Trotter, her three sons, Doug Trotter (Julie), Dean Trotter(Tara), Dennis Trotter, and a daughter Dawn Trotter, one grandson Greg Trotter (Laura), and three granddaughters Ashlee, Taylor and Stacey Trotter, and two sisters Loretta Ivey Johnson and Carolyn Ivey Harmon (Gary).
A private graveside service will be held Friday, March 3rd in Southlawn Cemetery.
The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, March 4th beginning at 2 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home. A memorial service will follow at 3 o’clock with The Rev. Bill Howard III and Chaplain Dexter Lambert officiating.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Aiken SPCA Albrecht Center (letlovelive.org).
