Marilyn S. Melton

AIKEN, SC - MARILYN S. MELTON, 81, widow of Donald G. Melton, Sr., passed away Thursday, December 17, 2020 at University Hospital Summerville, Augusta, GA.

Funeral services will be held 1:00 PM Tuesday, December 22, 2020 at Shellhouse-Rivers Funeral Home with the Rev. Mike McAlpin officiating. Interment will follow in Sunset Memory Gardens with her grandsons serving as pallbearers. The family will receive friends beginning at 12:00 PM at the funeral home.

Born in Edgefield, SC, Marilyn was a daughter of the late Charles D. and Margie Outz Smith. She made a career as a nurse working at St. Joseph Hospital in Augusta. She loved to sew and crochet along with working on puzzles and tending to her garden. Marilyn loved traveling to the Great Smoky Mountains and to Myrtle Beach. She was a woman of strong faith and showed that in the way she gave to others. Marilyn served for many years as a Sunday school teacher and went on numerous missionary trips. She was also a caretaker to those on hospice.

Survivors include six children, Donald Gene Melton, Jr. (Cathy W.), Brian Allen Melton, Linda Ann Melton, Teresa Melton Sheppard (Chris), Pam Melton Sitler, Michael McKay Melton Sr. (Nicole), all of Aiken; 13 grandchildren; 21 great-grandchildren and a Brother, Gregory Smith.

In addition to her husband and parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by a grandson, Mikey and two brothers, Charles Smith, Jr., and Benjamin Smith.
