Marlene Carol Gates

Windsor, SC - Marlene Carol Gates, 87, passed away peacefully at her home in Windsor, South Carolina, surrounded by family on May 8, 2023. Marlene was born on December 15, 1935 to Irwin H. & Audrey(Hakes) Webster.

She and her now deceased husband, Harry E. Gates lived most of their life in Upstate NY. In 2001, they moved to Windsor South Carolina. Marlene retired from New Process Gear in Syracuse, NY and they built their dream home in Windsor.

Marlene is preceded in death by her husband, Harry Gates, sons Leland Day and Thomas Gates. She has 2 surviving siblings out of ten, Aleta Testa(Tom)and Junita Ottenstroer.   She is survived by her four daughters, Aleta (Paul) Reed, Natalie Busby, Snow (Bill) Mills, Brenda (Keith) Stiers, and two sons, Todd (Alice)Day and Jay(Brighid) Gates, as well as her grandchildren, Sharity Bassett (Mark Freeland), Clay Bassett, Adam Walborn, Zachary Walborn, Anita (Todd) Jones, Autumn(Hugo)Alvarado, Catriona(Gareth)Pyle, Liam Gates, Cody Mills, and 12 great grandchildren.

Calling hours and funeral for Marlene will be held at the Gates Funeral Home, 29 W. Genesee St, Baldwinsville, NY: Monday, May 15 from 4-7pm calling hours and funeral, May 16 at 11am.

Marlene was always active taking care of properties she owned and managed, making quilts for all her children and many friends, and loved her organic gardens. Hosting large dinners with family and friends, listening to music, and playing cards also topped her list of interests. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
