Martha Jean Hatcher

MARTHA JEAN HEATH HATCHER, 81, widow of Gerald T. Hatcher, Sr., passed away unexpectedly Sunday evening, December 3, 2023 in Aiken Regional Hospital Sweetwater.

A native of and lifelong resident of Aiken, Martha Jean was a daughter of the late Oliver F. and Mary McElmore Heath.  She formerly worked as a secretary in the Aiken County Magistrates Office for Judge Glenn L. Holley.  She then began working at Owens Corning and later AGY as Benefits Administrator, retiring in 2004 after 25 years. She was a lifelong member of Talatha Baptist Church.

Surviving is her daughter, Debra Plunkett (Kevin), North Augusta; four grandchildren, Deanna Gainey, Dustin Plunkett, Devin Brown, Skylar Hatcher; her brother, Freddie Heath, Aiken.  In addition to her parents and husband, Martha Jean was preceded in death by two sons, Trent Hatcher and Jerry Hatcher and her sister, Carol Hamilton.

The family will receive friends Thursday morning, December 7^th beginning at 10 o’clock at Talatha Baptist Church.  A memorial service will follow at 11 o’clock with The Rev. Jordan Bird officiating.
