Martha McCormick Summerall

MARTHA MCCORMICK SUMMERALL, 82, beloved wife of Henry Summerall, Jr., passed away Monday evening, December 2, 2024, in Emory University Hospital, Atlanta, GA. She was born June 29, 1942, in Richmond, Virginia, to Charles Thomas Moseley Sr. and Meredith Andrews Robinson Moseley. Martha moved to Aiken, South Carolina, in May of 1952.

Martha first married Henry Hilton LESESNE in 1962. She married second Marshall Blaine McCormick in 1973. She married third Henry Summerall in 2010. Martha worked for and retired from the South Carolina Department of Social Services. Her life-long passions were her family, horses, and gardening. Martha always took her greatest enjoyment out of life from people. She entertained generously for years, hosting family gatherings, champagne brunches, dinner parties, and summer cookouts wherever she lived. Her life was filled with family and many close friends. She provided horseback riding lessons and showed horses for many years. She planted many elaborate gardens on her property and gave away bulbs and cuttings with those who shared her joy in flowers.

Survivors include her husband Henry Summerall of Aiken, SC; one son, Henry Hilton Lesesne III of Huntsville, AL; three granddaughters Cali (Wright) Cook, Corrie Lesesne, and Natalie Finley; three grandsons Kazimierz Lesesne, Wlodzimierz Lesesne, and Michał Lesesne; stepdaughters, Marsha McCormick Daniel and Anne Summerall Poplin; stepson, Blaine McCormick; brothers, Tom Moseley and David Moseley; and many nieces, nephews, and extended family members.

A memorial service will be held at Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Aiken, SC, on Saturday, December 7, 2024, at 11 AM.
