Aiken – Mrs. Mary Nell Atkins Brown, 93, passed away Tuesday, August 2, 2022 surrounded by her loving family.
Mrs. Brown was born in Anderson, SC, a daughter of the late Arney Lee and Corine Stone Atkins. She was a resident of Aiken since 1960, member of Lighthouse Baptist Church, and retired from Owens Corning Fiberglass after 35 years of service. She was an avid Clemson football fan, member of their IPTAY club, and traveled to all of the Tiger’s home games and bowl games including their National Championship game. She enjoyed spending time fishing at Lake Murray. She dearly loved her children, grandchildren, and great grandchildren.
She is survived by her daughters, Patricia (Glenn) Moseley, Aiken, and Sara (J.B.) Moseley, Aiken; sons, Steve (Addie) Brown, Aiken, Bruce B. (Pat) Brown, North Augusta, and William A. (Billie Jo) Brown, Aiken; grandchildren, Sherri (Jimmie) Haywood, Rhonda (Bruce) Brown, Renee Inabinet, Kim (Kevin) Gray, Brad Moseley, Bruce Bailey Brown, Jr., Will (Logan) Brown, Jacob Moseley, Tiffany (Tommy) Holley, Beth (Billy) Haye, Annette (James) Busbee, Melinda (Josh) Baggott, and Amy Welmaker; 20 great grandchildren; three great great grandchildren; Arney Welmaker, who was like a son to her; and son in law who she thought of like a son, Andy Inabinet.
In addition to her parents, Mrs. Brown was preceded in death by her husband, Gerald Edward Brown; children, Gerald Edward Brown, Jr. (Sonny), and Mary B. Inabinet; five brothers, and two sisters.
A visitation will be held beginning at 1:00 PM, with the funeral service to follow at 2:00 PM Friday, August 5, 2022 at Lighthouse Baptist Church with the Reverend Marion Britton and the Reverend Jeff Gibson officiating. Interment will follow in the Shiloh Baptist Church Cemetery. The service will be live streamed and the link is available on Mrs. Brown’s obituary page on the funeral home website.
Pallbearers will be Brad Moseley, Tommy Holley, James Busbee, Will Brown, Bailey Brown, Joshua Baggott, and Jacob Moseley.
