Mary Frances Dyer-Rutland

PINEVILLE, NC - Mary Frances Rutland, 84, passed away on January 17, 2022. She was the daughter of William Herschel Dyer and Georgia Lee (Nance) Dyer Fuqua. She was preceded in death by her husband, Jerry Rutland and only sister, Shirley Faye (Dyer) Rogers, with whom she shared a very close relationship. She is survived by her 3 children, Kimberly (James) McManus, Nancy (Scott) Kennedy, and William (Laren) Rutland; her 7 grandchildren, Nancy (Neil) Subel, Patrick McManus, Shanleigh McManus, Levi Kennedy, Savanna Kennedy, Cade Rutland and Kyle Rutland; her 5 great-grandsons, John Subel, Luke Subel, Levi Subel, Boaz Subel and Noah Subel; her sister-in-law, Jane (Rutland) Fulmer; and her many beloved cousins and niece and nephews. Frances, as she was known to those close to her, was an avid gardener, realizing her dream of becoming a Master Gardener while living in Savannah, Ga. She loved to travel and meet with family and friends. In her younger years, she was a member of the Order of Eastern Star and attended Cursillo in the 1970s. She had a very successful career as a registered nurse. She received her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Armstrong State University. In her career, she worked operating room, maternity health, emergency room, intensive care, and in the clinics. At Memorial Medical Center in Savannah, she was the employee health nurse for many years and eventually worked as a nursing supervisor. In her later years, she was a devoted member of Amazing Grace Lutheran Church in Waxhaw, where she enjoyed meeting with her friends for Bible study and chair yoga. She often entertained these same friends at the pool in her subdivision, keeping everyone active and moving. She will be missed by the many who knew her but never forgotten. A graveside funeral will be held at 12:00 PM Saturday, January 22, 2022 in the Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church cemetery, 1186 Mt. Calvary Rd., Johnston, SC 29832 with The Rev. Mark Smith officiating.
