Aiken – Mrs. Mary Morgan Halfmann, 83, passed away Sunday, August 22, 2021.
Mary was born in Kingston, PA, daughter of the late David John Morgan and Mary Evans Morgan. Mary dedicated her life to serving others. After graduating from DePauw University in Greencastle, IN, she moved to Northern Virginia. There she began her teaching career in Alexandria. Raising her family became her next passion; while she was a stay-at-home mother, she was involved in many organizations and activities, such as Girl Scouts and the United Methodist Church. Returning to teaching, Mary taught middle school English in Fairfax County for over 24 years; her lessons about English as well as the values of life left indelible marks on her students. In addition to her commitment to her family and to teaching, Mary had a strong faith. She was a member of St. John's United Methodist Church; though her volunteer work, she inspired adults and young children alike. Mary Halfmann truly made this world a better and brighter place.
Mary is survived by her loving husband, George Halfmann; her daughters, Debra (Steve) Nelson, Brimfield, IL, and Mary Lynne (Mark) Lampe, Noblesville, IN; her son, Charles Halfmann, Aiken; her grandchildren, Sarah, Grace, Meghan, Thomas, Mary Elise, Jordan, and Braeden; her great grandchildren, Declan and Gareth; her sister, Martha Anne Bull, Westfield, NJ; and her beloved dog, Baley.
A Celebration of Life will be held privately.
