Melvin L. Goble, 84, beloved husband of Joanne Goble, passed away February 5, 2018. Mr. Goble was born in Lyons Township MN to the late Lloyd and Dorothy Dexter Goble. He grew up on a farm where at the age of 8 he was driving four abreast in the fields for his grandfather, David Goble. That began a lifelong love of nature and horses. At age 17 he enlisted in the US Navy becoming a Medical Corpsman. Toward the end of his military career, he was charged with designing and outfitting the laboratory/bloodbank on the USS Sanctuary and sailing with it to Vietnam where he performed his duties with great pride and love and respect for all the amazing young men who gave the ultimate sacrifice for their country. Upon his return he ran the medical laboratory training center at the NNMC in Bethesda, MD ensuring trained competent men for the Navy. After 20 years and retiring as Senior Chief he ran a medical lab for a group of doctors in Gaithersburg MD for 10 years, then retired to be a full-time farmer. He raised Scotch Highland Cattle and other farm animals. At the same time he and his daughter, Jennifer, trained and showed some of the finest Pekingese in the northeast. After selling the farm he concentrated on horses - riding/driving/fox hunting. The move to Aiken came in 2001 where he helped many a person training their ponies/horses/minis to drive as well as doing some competing with his wonder pony BDF Jason, the fox hunting Fjord. He was President of the Aiken Driving Club for several years starting many new traditions. He leaves his wife and best friend Joanne to trim the bushes and mow the grass.
