Michael Thomas Yancey

AIKEN, SC – MICHAEL THOMAS YANCEY, 59, beloved husband of Denise Dodd Yancey, passed away Saturday, April 17, 2021 at his residence.

     Born in Richmond, VA, Michael was a son of the late Whitelaw Reed Yancey, Jr, and Barbara Childress Yancey.  He grew up in Dunedin, FL where he and his family were very active in the car racing community and the Speedway Racetrack.  He moved to Aiken in 2000 and was the former owner of Yancey’s Lawn Service.

     Survivors, in addition to his wife Denise are six children, Michael Thomas Yancey, Jr. (Sarah), Holiday, FL, Monica Lauren France (Frankie), Spring Hill, FL, Dawn Denise Chapman (Johnny), Aiken, SC, Sarah Jayne Walton (Andrew), Aiken, SC, Sharon Risinger (Mark), Aiken, SC, Jason Wilson (Debbie), Augusta, GA; twelve grandchildren; one great-grandson; five nieces and nephews; a brother, Clarence “Butch” Yancey (Edette), Clearwater, FL; his sister, Jeanne Coulter (Randy), Hudson, FL and his beloved dog, Casey.

     The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, April 24^th beginning at 1 o’clock at Shellhouse – Rivers Funeral Home.  The funeral service will follow at 2 o’clock.

     In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be directed to the Georgia Cancer Center at Augusta University for cancer research (www.augusta.edu/cancer) .
